Cute Composites

A while back, I started playing around with building composited images in Photoshop.  I’ll admit, these composites aren’t “new”.  The idea of composites has been around in the photography world for years.  I’ve seen a few done where they were overcrowded or had too much going on in the way of colors and textures.  I try to keep things simple, making a simple black or white mat for images to really pop and speak for themselves.  Here are a few designs.

8×24, quite popular for baby’s room, fits perfectly over the mantel too!

Typically a 20×24 size or larger, this is cute when baby starts to make those first few faces or for older children with tons of personality.

This is my most recent.  The smallest it can come in is a 16×20.  This one has enough room for more text and makes a great keepsake or gift for grandparents.

I love making composites of images.  They come in larger sizes, giving greater value to a portrait viewing by adding more images for the price of one.  When done correctly, composites have a way of telling a story of your baby’s first few weeks of life.  They are neither better or worse than images by themselves, in my opinion.  It’s just another way of displaying your memories.
