Some photographers declare a specialty – a piece of the photography world that they build their career around and photograph the most. Weddings, sports, glamour, fashion, family portraiture, etc. At the beginning of my career, I thought that declaring a specialty in newborns would end up being boring as baby after baby began to look the same.
Every baby that I’ve come across gives me a completely different session. Some are fighters. Some snooze right through. Some refuse to do certain poses or hate being moved. And all are beautiful in their own way. No two are alike.
Meet 13-day-old Kyra. She’s the teensiest baby I’ve had the pleasure of photographing. She started out the session warm and full of milk, super sleepy. Then, without a single cry, she woke up. She stared up at me with calm, inquisitive eyes. Made for some beautiful open-eyes shots. I thank Kyra’s parents for the pleasure and hope her family enjoys her sneak peek.
