Naomi – 6 month Session

I did a hard push of editing last night. Usually it’s kind of like exercise – if I sit down and make myself do it then I usually cover a lot of ground all at once. Anyway, I get the exciting pleasure of handing these pictures over to the family today. I think that’s always my favorite part other than actually working with these babies. I love the reveal, when the family sees these pictures for the first time.  I always hesitate before putting pictures in a blog for that reason, but my excitement always has override.  Sometimes it illicits tears of joy.

I don’t know if this is one of those times, but I do know that these turned out awesome! I’m not as good at the fly-by-my-pants, impromptu backyard shoots as I am with the controlled-lighting indoor newborn shoots, but I’m still learning. I’m blessed to be able to learn the things I know I don’t do as well as I should and still be able to guarantee great portraits. Here’s a sneak peek of Naomi’s 6 month shoot. She’s growing up so fast!!

She’s in her rolling-over stage.  Pretty soon she’ll be sitting up without assistance and crawling!

Sometimes sessions include well-deserved naps…for…the baby, I mean.

At the end of the day she was so worn out she needed another nap.  And you know I love me some sleepin’ baby.  So precious.

So that seemed like more than a little sneak peek.  I probably revealed more than I usually do in a blog but these turned out so well I couldn’t choose which ones I wanted to show.  There are so many more great shots!

But this is what I mean by being casual in my shoots.  There’s a lot that goes on in the hour or two I’m with your family.  There are breaks in between, naps, snacks, etc.  Some parents confess to me that they walked away thinking the shoot turned out horrible for one reason or another.  Not to worry!  I work with what I get and the majority of all shots turn out wonderful.  It’s all a part of the fun!
